phone free adelphi vol. 20 - June 3rd, 2026
phone free adelphi hit a milestone last week; it was our 20th evening of screen-less creativity. To celebrate, we held a phone free social with a surprise guest... my brother, Andrew (aka Sid Drift), played a short set of 3 new songs. The prompt for the phone free phreaks was to practice deep listening without any digital distraction. Afterwards, they were to speak with people they didn't know about the role music plays in their lives (spoiler alert: I actually love music and listen to it a lot (not to brag)). It was lovely hearing engaged conversations between strangers evolve into a joyful hang.

What a unique joy it is to combine worlds! What a talented brother! What kind, attentive folk who attend phone free adelphi! I'm spoiled.
After the performance and discussion, I put on a record, more chatting ensued, then everyone ended up on the porch to relax in the pleasant evening breeze and stargaze. I'm pretty sure we saw the Big Dipper, no big deal. Finally, we ended up at Habana Outpost to watch the Knicks come from behind and win Game 1. NOT A BAD WEDNESDAY NIGHT!
As Vonnegut wrote, "If this isn't nice, what is?"
