phone free adelphi vol. 24 - June 24th, 2026
My dear friend Daniel S. (shout out Severance) is no stranger to phone free adelphi. I'd go so far as to say he's a phone free vet, a stalwart of the screen-less, a true fixture in the PFA community. If you've been lucky enough to meet this special human, you'll know that he's got an incredibly infectious energy that lightens up every room he steps his big ass feet in. Last week's phone free adelphi was no different.
One couldn't have asked for a nicer evening, the exact opposite of 100° plus and humid. The temp was in the 70's with a light breeze; no rain to speak of (though the porch chairs were still slightly damp from earlier in the week, sorry Allie), and just freakin' good vibes. There's simply no other way to put it (believe me, I tried).
At the beginning of every PFA, people arrive, mingle & snack for a bit, and then introduce themselves. In addition to the basics, I asked these phone free friends to say a fun fact about where they grew up and what they're gonna do during the evening. Daniel S. mentioned that he was going to write thank you notes and also... do 30 second wall sits every 10 minutes. Um, record scratch... huh? You're gonna do what? But look, we actually love this about Daniel.
After all of the phones were collected, I put on an instrumental record AS PER YOOSH (usual) and friends got to work. I guess I kinda forgot what Daniel S. said about wall sits because while I sat at the dining room table and began to write, I was legit surprised when he checked his watch and then got up from his seat to - you guessed it - wall sit. And it wasn't long before everyone else at the table followed suit.
Pretty soon after, we had multiple people wall-sitting every ten minutes for 30 seconds in the dining room, the living room, and finally, on the porch. And you know what? Everyone did it with a darn smile. Because when your wall-sitter-in-chief takes clear joy from a silly thing he decided to do, that energy spreads. Every phone free adelphi with Daniel is a blessed one.
